1. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Returning Officer, Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG on any day after the date of this notice between the hours of 10am - 12pm and 1pm – 4pm, but no later than 4 pm on Monday, 22nd December 2025. Please note Lynton House no longer has a reception so it is advisable to ring 01271 388277 for an appointment, otherwise please ring the bell on the side door to gain access.
2. Nomination papers can be downloaded below or they may be obtained from the clerk to South Molton Town Council or from the offices of the Returning Officer, Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG between 9am and 4pm. Please note Lynton House no longer has a reception so it is advisable to ring 01271 388277 for an appointment, otherwise please ring the bell on the side door to gain access.
3. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 22nd January 2026.
4. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 6 January 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
5. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 7th January 2026. You may apply online or download a form at https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote or contact the Electoral Registration Office direct.
6. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate (free voter ID, or an Anonymous Elector's Document valid for this election, must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 14th January 2026. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
7. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Wednesday, 14th January 2026. 8. Applications to vote by emergency proxy must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Lynton House, Commercial Road, Barnstaple, Devon, EX31 1DG by 5 pm on Thursday, 22nd January 2026.
