We are currently experiencing a backlog due to high volumes of incoming contact and staffing shortages. If you have sent in a representation, rest assured, even if it hasn’t appeared on the website yet, our Officers will have seen it and will be considering it.

We are also experiencing delays in processing some applications due to a shortage of planning officers. As such we would request that you bear with us and work with us going forward so that we can determine any submitted applications in as timely a manner as possible so that we secure the best possible developments for North Devon.

In the meantime please avoid contacting us to enquire about progress, as our staff resources need to be entirely focused on working through the current backlog. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Planning applications advertisements

We would like to make you aware that from September 2022, planning applications will be advertised in the Gazette and not the Journal.

Planning Compliance

Please note that the Planning Compliance Team will only accept reports of planning breaches made online via our self-service form. Please refer to our pages on what we can and cannot investigate first. You can find the reporting link on this page.
