North Devon Council has officially unveiled the winning images from its photography competition, showcasing the talent of local photographers and the beauty of the district.
The competition, launched earlier this year, invited photographers of all ages and experience levels to submit their favourite images of North Devon. Hundreds of photographs were entered, capturing everything from dramatic coastlines and rolling countryside to wildlife and local landmarks.
Following a judging process involving members of the council's Communications team, Customer Services team and the Leader of the Council, a selection of winning images has now been installed in the council's Town Centre Hub in Green Lanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple.
The winning entries are:
- Spring Fields, Codden Hill, Bishop’s Tawton by Liz Yeo-Denney
- Turquoise Bay, Combesgate Beach, Woolacombe by Mark Clinton Johnson
- 'Howzat, for a majestic scene to play cricket!', Valley of Rocks by Mark Passmore
- Waiting for Sarah the Lighthouse, Ilfracombe Harbour by Nick Dickenson
The photographs were unveiled at a special event on Monday 7 September attended by the winning photographers, councillors and council officers.
Councillor Peter Leaver, Deputy Leader of North Devon Council, said: "We were overwhelmed by the number and quality of entries received. The competition highlighted not only the incredible beauty of North Devon, but also the remarkable talent of photographers across our district.
"The winning images are a fantastic addition to the Town Centre Hub and will be enjoyed by residents, visitors and staff for years to come. I'd like to thank everyone who took part and congratulate all our winners!"
