North Devon businesses invited to business rates information event

Node Cowork Barnstaple

Businesses across North Devon are being invited to a free event to learn more about how business rates are used locally and to hear about North Devon Council’s financial plans for 2026/27.

The event will take place at Node Cowork in Barnstaple on Wednesday 11 February from 5.30pm to 8.00pm.

Participants will have the chance to speak to representatives from various partner organisations. These include Louise Adam from North Devon Plus, the North Devon Council Business Rates team and Andreas Nest of Action Coach, who will present a newly established networking group. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view ‘Northern Devon Makes’, an interactive website designed for manufacturers and makers in Northern Devon.

Guests are invited to arrive between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, during which time they can sign in, enjoy refreshments and network in the main café area. From 6.30pm until 8.00pm, the council’s Director of Resources Jon Triggs will deliver a presentation outlining the council’s proposed 2026/27 budget and explain how business rates are allocated and spent within the local area.

Jon Triggs, Director of Resources and Deputy Chief Executive at North Devon Council said: “We are keen to share our financial plans for the coming year and to listen to the views of our local businesses. We look forward to reflecting on what’s been achieved so far. This is a great opportunity to engage with other local business owners and we hope to see you there.”

The event is free to attend, and no booking is required making it easy for businesses to drop in and take part.
