As the Easter bank holiday period nears, North Devon Council is advising residents to review their waste and recycling collection dates online to avoid any disruption during the break.
There will be no collections on Good Friday (3 April 2026). Collections scheduled for that day will instead take place on Saturday 4 April. During the following week, beginning Monday 6 April, all collections will be delayed by one day, operating from Tuesday 7 April through to Saturday 11 April.
Usual collection services will return to normal from Monday 13 April.
With households likely to generate more packaging waste over Easter, including cardboard, foil, and plastics, residents are encouraged to recycle as much as possible. Cardboard and brown paper should be placed in brown recycling bags, while clean, scrunched foil and most plastics (excluding black plastic) can go into the black and green recycling boxes.
Councillor Julie Hunt, Lead Member for Waste and Recycling, said: “We encourage everyone to check their updated collection dates ahead of the bank holiday period. Our website has full details of the temporary changes, along with useful information on how to recycle correctly.”
To ensure collections are not missed, residents should place their bins, bags, and recycling containers at the kerbside by 6am on their scheduled day, or the night before.
For further updates, residents can visit the council’s website, follow its Facebook, or sign up for email notifications.
