Waste and recycling education in schools

Devon County Council also has one of the most extensive Waste Education Programmes in the country, provided by an experienced education team at Resource Futures.

They offer a range of workshops, assemblies, resources, training and visits to support teachers to embed the 3Rs into the curriculum and everyday school life.

The Zone

Visit the The Zone website  to find out more about how to include the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle message effectively in your school’s curriculum with their extensive teaching resources. You can download everything from lesson plans to classroom activities and find out more about site visits, workshops and funding.

School and group visits to Brynsworthy Recycling Centre

To request a visit, groups and schools are asked to contact the council's Waste and Recycling team via email - wasteandrecyclingservices@northdevon.gov.uk

Real nappies

If you are thinking of using real nappies, but aren't sure which type to buy or whether they will suit your lifestyle, the Devon Real Nappy Project may be able to help. There are real nappy advisors covering the Barnstaple, Ilfracombe and South Molton areas. They can offer you support about real nappies and information about trial kits, with local networking events also held regularly.
