Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP)
North Devon Council has welcomed a cohort of families from Afghanistan to the area, with the support of the Pickwell Foundation. These families have all been relocated to the UK under the Government allocated ARAP scheme.
What is the ARAP scheme
On 1 April 2021 the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme was launched as a resettlement scheme for Afghans who served with, or for the British military between 2001 and 2021. The scheme was established by the Home Office and The Ministry of Defence.
Those eligible have worked in roles which could have exposed their identities and place them at risk of as a result of their work for the UK Government and have subsequently been granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK.
