A provisional statement lets you know whether a premises, which is being or about to be built or substantially altered to provide licensable activities, would be granted a premises licence once building works are complete.

This gives you an idea whether or not the proposed business is viable before investing significant amounts of money.

You will also need to:

• pay the appropriate fee 
  
• read the guidance notes on provisional statement applications (pdf 189KB)
• provide a schedule of works
• provide a plan of the premises
• confirm that you have simultaneously served the application to the appropriate responsible authorities
