Arrange a clinical waste collection

North Devon Council do not arrange clinical waste collections. Please contact Peake GB.

Clinical waste is waste that consists wholly or partly of:

  • human tissue
  • blood or bodily fluids from wounds
  • used swabs or dressings
  • syringes, needles or other sharp instruments

The following can be placed in your black bin:

  • Excretions, such as nappy contents
  • drugs or other pharmaceutical products, pop in your black bin or return to hospital or pharmacy

In the case of medicines, it is recommended you dispose of these by returning them to a pharmacist.

You can arrange regular or ad hoc collections to meet your needs. If you need to cancel or suspend your regular collection please contact Peake GB on 01579 342212.

Non-recyclable bin
  • Non-infected gloves
  • Non-infected aprons
  • Non-infected swabs
  • Non-infected bandages
  • Non-infected nappies
  • Non-infected incontinence pads

No Sharps or pharmaceuticals

This is classed as offensive (non-infected) waste and is acceptable with your regular household (non-recyclable bin) collection. Please double bag if possible.
Orange sack
  • Infected gloves
  • Infected aprons
  • Infected swabs
  • Infected bandages
  • Infected incontinence pads

No Sharps or pharmaceuticals

Orange bags will be collected separately to your regular household (non-recyclable)
collection. This can be arranged through Peake GB.
Rigid sharps container  Pharmaceutically contaminated; needles, syringes, blades and scissors

Rigid containers will be collected separately to your regular household (non-recyclable)
collection. This can be arranged through Peake GB.

Please only put rigid containers out for disposal on the day of collection and not the evening before.
