Barnstaple Pannier Market and Butchers Row

Following the end of the second national lockdown next week, traders at Barnstaple Pannier Market and Butchers Row are getting ready to open their doors to customers once again.

General markets will return to Barnstaple Pannier Market on Thursday 3 December between 9am - 4pm, seven days a week, right up until Christmas Eve. The market offers everything for shoppers from fruit and veg, clothes, toys, tools and festive goodies. On a Monday, members of the Croyde Craft Market will also be trading in the pannier market offering lots of local craft for shoppers to enjoy.

Shop keepers in Butchers Row are also opening their doors to customers again, offering a variety of products from local traders including bread and cakes, ales, meat, pots and pans.  Many Butchers Row traders have continued to trade as essential stores or online offering click and collect, throughout lockdown. Full details of how to continue shopping with your favourite Butchers Row shop and opening hours which vary from shop-to-shop, can be found in the local shopping directory on the council website.

Lead Member for Economic Development and Strategic Planning at North Devon Council, Councillor Malcolm Prowse, says: "The second lockdown was a real blow to our local economy so I'm delighted that our traders and shop keepers are ready and raring to go and meet their valued customers once more. Lots of our local businesses have dug in and kept going as best they can throughout the lockdown, trading online, offering click and collect services but there's nothing quite like trading in person.

"As part of the council's Live Love Local campaign we are encouraging North Devon residents to pledge their support to our local shops this Christmas by shopping locally. Many of our local businesses are dependant on Christmas shoppers to survive so having the market open seven days a week in time for the season is such a boost and a real benefit to the whole of North Devon."
