Update from council Leader on use of the Dilkhusa Hotel
04 November 2022

Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor David Worden has issued a further statement regarding the use of the Dilkhusa Grand Hotel in Ilfracombe as a contingency hotel to accommodate asylum seekers.
Councillor Worden says: “Following the standing up of the Dilkhusa Grand Hotel yesterday, we have had a further conversation with partner agencies and Clearsprings Ready Homes to gather more information on the operation of the hotel and to start coordinating public services.
“Residents at the hotel comprise a mix of single females, families and single males. We understand there have been some concerns expressed about the use of the hotel, but it is also pleasing to hear that the hotel has already received offers of assistance from many within the Ilfracombe community.
“We are preparing some FAQs to distribute to the public, which should be ready early next week, alongside information about how any offers of assistance will be coordinated.”
