North Devon Council funding to create warm spaces
11 November 2022
Funding is now available to voluntary and community groups as well as town and parish councils to set up a warm space for residents this winter, thanks to funding from North Devon Council.
The council are urging North Devon community groups, charities, community interest companies, churches, voluntary groups and parish and town councils to apply for the new funding to provide community winter warmth.
The warm spaces will be places where residents can go, free of charge, to spend time during the day or evenings to keep warm if they are struggling to heat their homes.
Leader of North Devon Council, Councillor David Worden, says: "With the cost of living becoming more of a struggle for everyone, we know that staying warm is a huge worry this winter.
"Our new Community Warm Spaces Fund will provide finance to eligible groups so they can better support those in need this winter.
"Along with providing a warm space, the grant can be used towards providing information and advice on budget-saving tips as well as food, health and wellbeing support.
"We hope the fund will allow groups to support those most in need. I would urge groups across the North Devon District to apply."
Applications for funding of schemes up to £1,000 are welcomed and must be of benefit to a community located within the North Devon Council area.
This fund will close in March 2023 at the latest and could close before this time if the total fund has been spent earlier.
