Changes to waste and recycling collections over Jubilee bank holiday
09 May 2022

Residents in North Devon are being advised of some changes to waste and recycling collections over the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday.
North Devon Council is anticipating many road closures and wants its staff to join in with the one-off celebrations, some residents will experience disruption to some or all of their usual collections.
Residents who are expecting black bin collections on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June are being asked to put their waste out for collection a few days earlier on Monday 30 and Tuesday 31 May instead.
There will be no recycling collections on Thursday 2 and Friday 3 June. Customers are being advised to leave out any additional recycling the following week.
Garden waste collections are being cancelled for two weeks from Monday 30 May and they will commence again on Monday 13 June. Residents can leave extra garden waste out on their next collection.
Lead Member for the Environment Cllr Netti Person says: "I would like to say, in advance, a big thank you to all those who will be affected by these changes, for their understanding and co-operation. With many street parties planned our crews would find it difficult to continue with their normal scheduled collections and we would like to give them the time off to enjoy the celebrations with their friends and family.
"If you’re in any doubt about your new scheduled collection dates over the bank holiday you can check the North Devon Council website at any time."
Residents are being encouraged to stay up-to-date by visiting their website and social channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Nextdoor).
