North Devon Council's public-facing offices will remain closed following the announcement of a second national lockdown.

The reception area at Lynton House in Barnstaple, and the NDC front desks at the Ilfracombe Centre and The Amory Centre in South Molton were all due to reopen today (2 November 2020) following two weeks of closure due to Covid-related staff absence. But with the new restrictions coming into force on Thursday, the decision has been made to remain shut.

Ilfracombe and South Molton Town councils have also confirmed that their joint reception areas with NDC at the Ilfracombe Centre and Amory Centre are due to remain closed during the lock down.

NDC Leader Cllr David Worden says: "It's so unfortunate that just as we are due to reopen, the national lockdown is announced but it is completely understandable in the current circumstances. It is not unexpected and we are well prepared for this situation and we'll be advising local people and businesses what support is available to them as soon as we have had more information from the government."

Almost all NDC council services can be carried out online.

The councils can be contacted on the following telephone numbers and via their websites:

North Devon Council: 01271 327711 - northdevon.gov.uk
Ilfracombe Town Council: 01271 855300 - ilfracombetowncouncil.gov.uk
South Molton Town Council: 01769 572501 - southmoltontowncouncil.co.uk

The closure will be kept under constant review. Further updates about reopening of offices will be available on the North Devon Council website, facebook and twitter pages.
