Families are invited to enjoy a spooktacular half term at Barnstaple Pannier Market, with a range of free Halloween-themed activities to keep everyone entertained from Tuesday 27 October to Saturday 31 October 2026.
Throughout the week, visitors can take part in the Find the Golden Pumpkin challenge. Keep your eyes peeled as you explore the market stalls to discover the hidden golden pumpkin, and you could win a sweet treat!
On Thursday 29 October, budding artists can get creative with pumpkin carving between 10am and 3pm. Simply purchase a pumpkin and let your imagination run wild, with help from local artist Peter Stagg. The Halloween celebrations continue into the evening, with a free family disco from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, complete with a fancy-dress competition. So, dig out your spookiest costumes and get ready to dance.
All activities are free to attend, although pumpkins must be purchased separately for the carving session. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
While enjoying the half-term festivities, visitors are also encouraged to explore the fantastic range of independent traders at the market. From unique gifts and handmade treasures to local produce and tasty treats, there is plenty to discover.
Lee Baxendale, Town Centre Venue Asset Manager at North Devon Council, said: “We’re looking forward to bringing a new programme of Halloween activities to Barnstaple Pannier Market this half term. These events are a great opportunity for families to come together, get creative and enjoy some seasonal fun in the heart of the town. We also hope visitors will take the time to browse the stalls, meet our traders and support the fantastic local businesses that make the market such a vibrant place to visit. We look forward to welcoming everyone for a week of spooky surprises and family fun!”
Whether you’re hunting for the golden pumpkin, showing off your Halloween costume or getting creative, Barnstaple Pannier Market is the place to be this October half term. Come along, join in the fun and make a day of supporting your local market!
