Council Tax rebate scam emails

We have heard reports of scam emails claiming to offer a £200 Government Council Tax Rebate. These emails are not from us.

Please view our Government Council Tax Rebate webpage for information on details of how we are paying the £150 rebate to council tax payers.

North Devon Council never cold calls, texts or emails residents requesting bank details. If council tax refunds are due or there is any change to your bill, you will receive a statement through the post explaining the situation. We do not charge an administration fee. If you receive one of these calls, do not give out any personal information and end the call as quickly as possible.

If you are in any doubt of the authenticity of a call or email concerning your council tax account, please contact us on 01271 388361 or email counciltax@northdevon.gov.uk.

To report a suspected incident of the scam, call Citizens Advice on 020 8185 0710 and report it to the UKs national fraud and crime reporting centre, Action Fraud.
