Who is eligible?

  • Businesses which – while not legally forced to close – are severely impacted by the restrictions put in place to control the spread of Covid-19
  • Businesses outside the business rates system, which are forced to close
  • Larger local businesses which are important to the local economy, that feel they would benefit from additional grant money on top of the funding provided to those businesses via the Local Restrictions Support Grant scheme (State Aid rules apply)

Who is NOT eligible?

  • Businesses that have chosen to close, but have not been required to
  • Businesses that are in administration, insolvent or where a striking-off notice has been made
  • Businesses that are able to continue to trade as normal because they do not depend on providing direct in-person services from premises and can operate their services effectively from those premises or remotely
  • Businesses who were not open as usual and providing in-person services to customers up to 4th November 2020 and who did not intend to continue trading after 4th November 2020

In addition to the above exclusions, we have a number of North Devon exclusions:

  • Businesses in the accommodation sector that advertise only on Airbnb
  • Business in the accommodation sector that are second homes that are let to paying guests
  • Bed and Breakfast businesses with more than 6 letting rooms

When can I apply?

The application process is open now – we are accepting applications to cover the first two weeks of the National Lockdown period – November 5 to November 19.  This application window closes on December 2.

A further application window will open on December 3 when you can apply again for the second two weeks of the National Lockdown period – November 20 – December 3.

How do I apply?

If you think you are eligible to apply, you will need to have the following information and documents to hand to be able to complete the online form:

UTR (Unique Tax Reference Number) if self employed

Company Number (if applicable)

Charity Number (if applicable)

VAT number (if applicable)

Business Rates Account Number (if applicable)

Council Tax Reference Number (if applicable)

The number of employees that the business employs both active and those on furlough

You will need to upload the following documents with your application:

  1. Bank Statements for September and October 2020
  2. Bank Statements for the application period 05/11/2020 – 18/11/2020
  3. Evidence of outgoings
  • Evidence of mortgage or rent payments – mortgage statement, rent statement, recent bank statement with payment highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of water charges – most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of gas/electric/other fuel charges – most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of telephone/internet charges - most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of property insurance charges – insurance schedule, most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted(in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of trade waste charges - most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
  • Evidence of council tax charges - most recent bill, recent bank statement with payment(s) highlighted (in either applicant’s or business name)
