Tapping in to new media

You may have seen changes to the North Devon Council website recently as we are using new web tools to improve customer service.

In response to your ideas from last year’s web survey, we now have an online ‘What’s on in North Devon calendar’. Using ‘Google Calendar’ we can publicise more of your community events that normally appear in North Devon Direct. See page
13 for details.

Our website will also soon feature interactive maps to help you find council services. You can already find any North Devon Council owned and/or operated car park using Google Maps on our website. We will introduce further maps over the summer.

Twitter, the social media web phenomenon, is a handy way to follow and interact with us. Our Twitter page has news, jobs, events, traffic and other updates. Check it out at twitter.com/ndevoncouncil

You can now use the independent FixMyStreet.com website to report problems such as graffiti, abandoned vehicles and dog fouling to our Customer Service Centre. FixMyStreet will forward your report to us and we’ll deal with it as we would any other service enquiry.

Over the last year North Devon Council has been reviewing its complaints and compliments process.

As a result, a new streamlined system has been introduced to improve the way customer feedback is recorded and acted upon. The new system is being used by our Customer Service Centre for the services they currently deal with, such as Planning, Environmental Health, parking and recruitment.

As part of our review, we have also updated our web pages to make it easier for you to make a comment online and find out more about the process. New feedback leaflets have also been produced and are available from our Customer Service Centre offices if you prefer to write to us with your comments.

So if you want us to investigate anything that has concerned you, or you’d like to tell us anything you consider we have done well, please get in contact.
