Bicclescombe Park

Bicclescombe Park has a strong fundamental character as a traditional public park in a tranquil setting. This family park boasts various facilities, a mix of new and old landscape features, play area, formal bedding area with Victorian floral layouts.
The park has seven tennis courts and pavilion which are leased to the local tennis club. A heavy commitment by the club towards junior development helps to attract young people from all over North Devon and the annual tournament in July is attended by people from all over the country.
A corn mill which was restored into working order by the Rotary Club of Ilfracombe in the 1960/70’s provides an added attraction for the general public, as does the adjoining tea rooms and picnic area which is open to the public from Easter until the end of October.
More recently, a Sensory Garden was constructed by local community groups and with water playing an important role within the park, this provides both sound and light reflection for those with sensory impairments. The pond and lake have also been well utilised by the local model boat club.
Educational activities that have taken place recently have proved very popular with local schools, as have the events that have taken place in the park which have been an added attraction for all sections of the community.
