Job Vacancy: Housing Officer (Housing Advice and Homelessness)

37 hours per week, permanent post

Salary: £21,074 - £26,470 per annum + essential car user allowance

 

The Environmental Health & Housing Service is seeking enthusiastic persons to join our busy teams to meet the requirements of the new Homelessness Reduction Act. We are recruiting a mix of permanent and temporary posts to deliver our services. These roles will provide effective housing advice and assistance to prevent and resolve homelessness.

You will need to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, have an ability to work flexibly to changing demands and operate in a coordinated manner with other team members to ensure successful outcomes. Finding the right people is critical to our future success. We are looking for people who are able to think creatively, drive change and implement new ideas. The primary aim of this role is to prevent and resolve customer homelessness. Our Housing Officers will usually be the first point of contact in this customer facing service providing timely, high quality advice and assistance to maximise their housing opportunities.

The post holder will need to be able to demonstrate:

  •          Educated to Higher National Diploma or degree level or an equivalent level qualification and training
  •          Experience of preventing and resolving homelessness
  •          Good knowledge of housing legislation
  •          Experience of representing your organisation and customers in formal settings
  •          Experience of working with statutory and voluntary organisations
  •          Excellent communication
