People who need to contact North Devon Council can be assured of a continued high standard of service, after its Customer Services team maintained its Customer Service Excellence (CSE).

The team first gained the national recognition in 2009 and is reassessed every year to ensure high standards are maintained.

Leader of the Council, Councillor Brian Greenslade, says: "We hope this CSE standard reassures our customers of our commitment to serve them, no matter how they choose to contact us. The recognition reflects the team's dedication to providing an excellent service and their drive to further improve on customers' experiences. I'd personally like to say well done to them all for their continued hard work."

Following the team's recent assessment in March 2012, the service was judged to have maintained and further improved its performance in:
  • customer insight
  • culture of the organisation
  • information and access
  • delivery
  • timeliness and quality of service

The assessor praised three particular projects that the team had carried out. These were to gauge customers' experiences of how the council dealt with their various enquiries, as well as two separate mystery customer techniques.

Meanwhile, further improvements to the council's customer services are being explored, which include plans for a new one-stop-shop at the Civic Centre in Barnstaple. This will enable customers to access a variety of services from one central point, in an improved environment. More information will be given about this as the planned project progresses.

Customers can get in contact with the Customer Service Centre in any of the following ways:
  • Telephone 01271 327711
  • Email us
  • Visit our website
  • Text 07624 804042
  • In person: Civic Centre, Barnstaple, The Ilfracombe Centre and The Amory Centre, South Molton.
