Car parking in North Devon

New pay-on-foot parking

Entry and exit barriers and new payment machines have been installed at Hardaway Head car park (site of the old multi-storey off Queen Street).

The new pay-on-foot scheme involves taking a ticket at the barrier and paying for your parking when you return to your vehicle. This means you don’t have to rush back to your car before your ticket runs out, giving you more time to spend in town.

The new payment machines take coins, notes, credit and debit cards. You can find more information on our ‘pay-on-foot parking’ page.

Car parks

It is easy to visit North Devon by car. Our car parks offer convenient parking in towns and villages across the area.

Our interactive map provides the location of all the North Devon Council owned or operated car parks with links to further information and charges for each location.

We have included postcode information for most of our car parks so that you can get directions from your GPS. Please note that the information is approximate as postcodes are assigned to properties and not car parks.

Car parks are also listed by location:

You can park trailers in the following car parks within the North Devon area:
  • South Molton Central
  • Seven Brethren long stay, Barnstaple
  • Fairview,Barnstaple
  • Marine Drive, Hillsborough and the Cove car parks in Ilfracombe

Motorhomes can park in any of our coach and lorry parks. Please pay the coach/lorry tariff and display the ticket clearly in your vehicle. If your motorhome is under 3,500 kg and can fit within a normal parking bay, you are welcome to park in any car park, displaying a valid pay and display ticket. However, please check the terms and conditions on display at each car park for exceptions.

Caravans are not a permitted class of vehicle in any of our car parks or lorry parks. Please refer to for caravan sites in our area.

We have partnered with RingGo so that you can pay by credit or debit card for parking at our car parks. All our car parks have machines that accept cash.
