Background
The planning application (43272) for the wind turbine development on land at Batsworthy Cross, Knowstone, South Molton was originally refused planning permission by North Devon Council's Planning Committee in June 2011.
The windfarm development is described as the installation and operation of nine wind turbine generators of maximum 103 metre to tip height, unit transformer enclosures, substation building, anemometer, access tracks and ancillary equipment.
A planning application (53063) for the temporary erection of an anemometer mast, 60 metre in height, on the same site, was also refused planning permission in December 2011 by North Devon Council.
The applicant subsequently appealed against the decisions of North Devon Council on both these applications. The public inquiry into these cases ran from Tuesday 12 June 2012 to Friday 6 July 2012 with a further day of evidence on Thursday 20 September 2012.
