Did you know that the price of a full electronic search requested direct with us is only £60 (plus a small additional charge if a card is used)? Also, the price of a full paper search is only £71 if you still wish to submit using the post. A full price list can be downloaded on this page. Our prices are at cost so cannot be beaten. Personal Search Fee Scrapped

You may have seen a while ago  that the price of a personal search has been scrapped. This means that the register can be inspected for free but as our prices are so low our customers are still choosing to let us do the work on their behalf. That way they are assured of a fast and reliable service direct to their desktop. If you are a member of the public being quoted fees higher than ours please get in touch and we'll tell you how to take advantage of our low fees direct.

Refunds for Personal Searches

The Government decided that the local land charges register should be publicly accessible for free. Unfortunately it took them a long time to do that and in the meantime local authorities were obliged to follow the law at the time. For that period of time the Government has said that local authorities should refund customers. Please note that we are advised that refunds would probably not be forthcoming to personal search companies as they would have passed on the cost to their customer, therefore it is the customer that maybe due a refund otherwise there would be unjust enrichment to the personal search companies, ie they would be getting paid twice. North Devon Council is prepared to consider refunding individual property owners who wish to claim a refund. An application should be made in writing and state:

1. The land or property concerned.

2. The date the Search was undertaken.

3. If an agent was used, the name and address of the agent.

4. Confirmation that the Search results were received from the agent and the date of payment to the agent with evidence of the payment (e.g. a receipt).
