Formerly known as the Devon Youth Games

North devon Win GTI

On Sunday 5 July 2009, North Devon Council hosted the inaugral Devon Games to Inspire (GTI). The event continued in the tradition of its predecessor (Devon Youth Games 2008),with the ten districts of Devon competing against each other to win the overall Devon Games to Inspire Trophy.

The overall trophy was contested over 21 sporting events (full results breakdown logo - Word Document Logo) and North Devon finished the day as the overall winners. Meanwhile, our neighbours Torridge, were the winners of the 'Fair Play Trophy'.

In addition to the traditional sports competitions, Devon GTI included a wide ranging programme of cultural events and activities to reflect the links between culture and sport in the run up to the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics.

The cultural events included a dance showcase in Rock Park and a live music stage at Tarka Tennis Centre, which showcased local young talent and was headlined by Diana Vickers and Ruth Lorenzo from X Factor.
