North Devon Council's Leisure and Health team is concerned with sports development and facility provision. Through our programmes we aim to achieve greater participation in sport.
In April 2008, North Devon Council adopted its Leisure and Health Strategy (pdf 647 kB)
. The strategy outlines the key objectives for the authority over
the next ten years and aims to achieve these objectives through an action plan that will be reviewed
annually.Some of the projects we are currently working on include:
- Child protection when organising group activities
- Clubmark - a new initiative from Sport England aimed at ensuring the highest standards within English sports clubs
- Devon Games to Inspire (GTI)
- 5x30 in North Devon
- Free Access for National Sports People (FANS)
- Northern Devon Cycling Project
- Open Space Strategy - Creation and Enhancement of Playing/Sports Areas in North Devon
- Rate relief for sports clubs
- Rock Skate Park, Barnstaple
- Sports Unlimited
- Sports Club Directory
- Sports Club Development & Coach Education
- Supersport Holiday Activity Programme
