The Parks and Amenities Unit provides a specialist horticultural and landscape advisory and enabling service to North Devon Council and its individual business units, Devon County Council, parish councils, statutory bodies, local voluntary organisations, elected members and the general public by means of:
- grounds maintenance service and response works for Parks, Housing, Estates, Engineering
- advice on play equipment and guidelines and regulations to Environment Unit, towns, parishes and private individuals
- arranging tree and seat donations
- Britain in Bloom landscape and floral design advice to entrant groups
- community woodlands, local nature reserves and conservation management projects with local neighbourhood and volunteer groups and heritage coast/Devon County Council
- environmental awareness 'one-off' events - projects with community groups
- grounds maintenance, highway and urban development landscape featuring adoption and maintenance with Devon County Council
- North Devon Cycle Track maintenance - management and development with Devon County Council and heritage coast
- involvement in biodiversity working group development and strategies
- input to local planning strategies
- advisory comment on landscape and amenity open space provision on planning applications
- advice on arboricultural problems
- advice on landscape and horticultural input to corporate and public projects
