It’s hard to believe that natural habitats are under threat. Whilst North Devon still has some of the richest areas in the U.K. much has been lost due to changes in land development. Here in North Devon we are taking responsibility for our own wildlife.

We have:

1. published the North Devon Biodiversity Actions plans

2. we are working with Partners on the Steering group to make sure these plans are carried out

3. we hold a twice yearly forum for local naturalists

Devon Rural Strategy

The Devon Rural Strategy (DRS) logo - Internet Explorer: This goes to an external website has its origins in the aftermath of Foot and Mouth Crisis.  At its first conference at the end of 2001 the newly formed Devon Strategic Partnership (DSP) decided that priority should be given to the development of a Rural Strategy. A Task Group was formed under the chairmanship of Professor Michael Winter of the University of Exeter and commenced its work early in 2002.
