Making housing affordable for local people
North Devon Council has identified housing in it's Corporate Business Plan as it's priority. In order to address this the Council has an Affordable Housing Delivery Plan.
We aim to secure houses in 2 ways:
- through developers under the planning system
- affordable housing secured with grant
North Devon Council works with Exmoor National Park on the Rural Housing Project, working with the Rural Housing Enabler to promote and facilitate the development of affordable rural housing.
Affordable housing is built to sustainable code 3 which means that the housing generates lower water and heating bills as well as being more energy efficient.
