Emergency overnight shelter

Nowhere to sleep tonight?

From October to March, there will be emergency overnight accommodation in cold weather at The Freedom Centre.

The trigger for the shelter to open is a predicted Barnstaple night time temperature of zero degrees Celsius (0° C) for three consecutive nights. We will use forecasts from the MetOffice to make this decision.

If the temperature continues below zero beyond three nights, then the accommodation will continue on a night-by-night basis. If the temperature rises after three nights then the accommodation will cease.

Doors will open at 8.00 pm with the last admittance at 10.00 pm. Breakfast will be served at 7.00 am.

Information about when the night shelter is open will be available from:
