The Built Environment Section
We are a multi discipline team incorporating Architects, Property Surveyors, Car Parking Services and Estate Surveyors. The section has the flexibility to undertake a wide variety of building orientated work from feasibility, through design and detail stages, to building maintenance programmes and estate management
We have the benefit of fully computerised project management. The unit has computer aided design capability using ArchiCad,Cartology and Sketchup and can produce anything from simple sketches through working drawings to full photo-montages
The unit currently consists of nine staff under the Head of section - John Laird Dip. Arch. (Cant) RIBA

Customer Charter

Property and Technical Unit serves the community by maintaining and managing Council assets and supporting
other Council departments in their work.

The Built Environment
- Providing feasibility and design work for existing council owned property and for new projects.
- To ensure maintenance and repair of all the Councils assets.
- To manage the Councils office accommodation and ensure demand meets supply.
- To provide and manage the investment estate providing opportunities for small and emerging business through commercial properties for rent.
- To manage the Lynton Agency
- Providing the Car Parking enforcement and management function for the Council
Parks and landscape gardening.
- Meeting the needs of the local community and visitors to the area by the provision of high quality parks and amenities including seasonal undertakings.
- To provide a burial service at Ilfracombe and to support our agent Barnstaple Town Council in the provision of the service in Barnstaple.

- To act as the Land Drainage and Coastal Defence Authority
