Handyperson Scheme

An affordable home repair service for North Devon residents over 60.

The scheme is run by Devon and Cornwall Housing's Care and Repair North Devon agency in partnership with North Devon District Council and Devon County Council Social Services.

Reduced labour costs to people on certain benefits plus cost of materials. Labour is FREE for work associated with hospital discharge, including FREE materials. Charges should be confirmed with Care and Repair before proceeding with the Scheme.

Examples of jobs that the Handyperson can help with:

1    Replace light bulbs
2    Replace electric fuses and plugs
3    Fit doorbells, smoke alarms and replace batteries
4    Fit door chains, locks
5    Put up shelves and pictures
6    Repair small areas of fencing and gates
7    Unblock sinks
8    Renew bath sealants
9    Power wash small patios/steps

Jobs the Handyperson CANNOT help with are:

1    Decorating
2    Gardening
3    Repairing domestic appliances
4    Jobs requiring a qualified electrician or plumber
5    Jobs requiring work above stepladder height
