Our responsibilities
North Devon Council does not provide a pest control service to domestic premises. You are advised to look in a business directory like Yellow Pages
for a suitable contractor. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend specific contractors.
Local authorities do not have a duty to provide pest control services. However under the Prevention of Damage by Pests Act 1949 both local authorities and individuals have duties relating to pests on land.

NDC can investigate:
- pests arising from neighbouring land or property
- public health issues – e.g. pests in a shop, restaurant or workplace
An officer will be assigned to your request to investigate the matter further. We may be able to take enforcement action in these cases.
