The North Devon Food Forum was set up on 23 March 2006, with the following objectives:
The North Devon Food Forum was set up on 23 March 2006, with the following objectives:
- to provide a forum for dialogue between NDC’s Environmental Health service and local food operators
- to explore how we can work together to improve standards of hygiene and profitability and thereby the local economy
- to listen to traders’ views and concerns
- to communicate areas of concern of a general nature
- to identify ways we can improve the services we deliver
- to identify needs of the local food industry that need addressing (not necessarily by North Devon Council)
- to identify and address any inequality of service delivery
Membership of the forum is intended to be representative of a wide spectrum of food operators within North Devon district, including:
- manufacturers
- producers
- caterers/hoteliers
- retailers
- cash and carries
- butchers
- bakers
- fast food outlets
- equipment/service providers
- market traders
- Devon Direct services
- outside caterers
- farm shops
- Business Link
- Federation of Small Businesses
- training organisations
- marketing organisations
