Dogs
Our responsibilities
North Devon Council plays an important role in educating and advising people on the principles of responsible dog ownership.
Where people do not look after their dog or let their dogs behaviour or actions impact on others, NDC has wide ranging enforcement powers. It is mainly, however, the actions of the dog owner that cause the problems and not the dog.
Our dog warden service has experts in dog control issues and can provide specific advice.
Your responsibilities
Responsible dog owners:
- clean up after their dog
- keep their dogs under control at all times especially near roads and livestock
- care for their dogs health with regular inoculations and worming
- ensure their dog is readily identifiable with a collar and tag
