Barnstaple regeneration

Introduction

North Devon Council, together with a number of key agencies including Town Centre Management logo - Internet Explorer: This goes to an external website and Devon County Council logo - Internet Explorer: This goes to an external website, is working on a number of projects that will dramatically change Barnstaple over the coming years.

Over the next five years there will be massive investment in the town, kick-started by the opening of the Barnstaple western bypass in May 2007.

The council is working closely with all the agencies involved in these projects, to make sure that the impact of the regeneration is managed carefully. With a number of key developments taking place in Barnstaple at the same time, it is important to minimise the disruption to the town and take advantage of the opportunities for working together to reduce costs and share resources.

The team (Word 41 kB) logo - Word Document Logo managing the Barnstaple regeneration project is overseen by the Executive of North Devon Council. The project management group meets monthly and work to a number of goals:
  • to maximise investment in the town
  • to achieve high quality in terms of design and sustainability
  • to ensure that the programme of regeneration is delivered in a timely manner

The links below provide more information on each of the projects and the latest developments in this exciting programme of regeneration.
