Standard collections (non-white and white goods)
The council provides one free collection per year of a standard item for each household (the year runs from April to March).
Standard items have been identified as those most commonly requested for collection and are listed in the following table:
Additional collections will have the standard charge of £15.00.
If your item is very large, heavy or unusual, it will be classed as non-standard.
Non-standard collections
The council is now able to offer a more comprehensive service and can collect items that are not in the standard item list. This service is operated by one person, and so we are unable to collect items requiring two people to remove.
A charge for collecting these items and confirmation of your collection day will be given when booking your collection. The price will be determined by the the size and weight of the item, as well as the resources required to pick up the item.
Assisted special/bulky waste collections
For householders who have difficulty in moving the item to the kerb, an assisted collection may be available for an additional £5.00 fee. We will only come onto a customer's land or garden, not into their house.
This will normally be available where access to the property is level of if their is a gradual slope without steps.
Additional collection details
Collections will be arranged for a specific day and should be placed on the kerbside by 7.00am. Full details will be provided when making a booking.
Any payment due is required in advance, with the council now able to receive payment electronically with most credit and debit cards.
Local charities or furniture recycling companies
Some charity shops will take goods that can be reused. Please check with them direct to see if they will accept your item.
Additionally, the following charities may also collect goods free of charge where they can be reused:
