Additional collections will have the standard charge of £15.00, this will apply to all items in the above table.
Please call Greensweep Direct on 01271 374776 to arrange a collection.

If your item is very large, heavy or unusal it will be classed as non-standard (see below).

Non-Standard

The Council is now able to offer a more comprehensive service and can collect items that are generally larger/heavier.
Items falling into this category include dismantled kitchen units, small boilers, garden sheds(dismantled) and garage doors etc.
This service is operated by one person, therefore we will be unable to collected items requiring 2 people to remove.

A charge for the collection of these items and collection day will be confirmed before booking the item for collection. The Council will consider the size and weight of the item and the resource required to collect the item in determining a price.

Assisted Special/Bulky Waste Collections

For householders who may have difficulty in moving the item (s) to the kerb, an assisted collection may be available for an additional £5.00 fee.

This will normally be available where access to the property is level/gradual slope and without steps.

Service Standard

Standard White and Non-Standard items will not be picked up by the refuse crews.
Collections will be arranged for a specific day and should be placed kerbside by 7.00am

Full details will be provided when making a confirmed booking. Payment is required in advance (if applicable) and the Council is now able to receive payment electronically by most forms of credit and debit cards.

Other Solutions

Don’t forget that you can also take items to your nearest recycling centre. The main ones are situated at Seven Brethren, Barnstaple, Killacleave, Ilfracombe and Maclins Quarry, South Molton.

Some charity shops will also take goods that can be re-used.

Additionally, the following may also collect goods free of charge where they can be reused:

  • Jigsaw Furniture Reuse Project 01271 327564
  • TLC, Ilfracombe 01271 866315
  • South Molton Recycle 01769 573081

Can I put items out with my rubbish?

No.

The Council provides a collection of normal household waste. A general guideline is that if it fits into a black sack that can be sealed/tied, it can be collected. Cardboard can also be put out for collection. Please ensure that it is flattened and securely left with the normal refuse so that it will not blow away on windier days.

Please note that the following items will not be collected as part of your normal refuse collection:
  • Any form of garden waste
  • Bulky household items
  • Bulky exterior items, e.g. garden chair
  • Toxic/hazardous chemicals, paint and empty gas bottles
  • Any waste resulting from commercial activity
