Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs)
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) form part of the Local Development Framework for North Devon and provide additional guidance and details on how sites should be developed, clarify how policies will be interpreted and set out procedures that should be followed. Each SPD was prepared alongside a Sustainability Appraisal and involved formal public consultation over a six-week period. Amendments were made as a result of comments received.

Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPGs)
Supplementary Planning Guidance documents were prepared to supplement the Local Plan before SPDs formed part of the new Local Development Framework in 2004.
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) provides additional guidance and details on how sites should be developed, clarify how policies will be interpreted and set out procedures that should be followed. No sustainability appraisals were prepared. Each draft SPG involved formal public consultation over a six-week period and amendments were made as a result of comments received.
