| AMR | Annual Monitoring Report | Formal report on progress in preparing Local Development Documents and implementing policies. |
| DPD | Development Plan Document | Planning documents that the District Council must prepare and which have to be subject to
rigorous procedures of community involvement, consultation and independent examination - DPDs include the following elements:- 1.A Core Strategy 2. Core policies setting out criteria based policies to assess new development across the District 3. Area Action Plans 4. Site specific proposals 5. Proposals Map (with inset maps where necessary) illustrating policies and proposals. |
| LDD | Local Development Document | The group of documents that provide the LDF for the area comprising DPDs, SPDs and the SCI. |
| LDF | Local Development Framework | A portfolio of LDDs which will collectively provide the framework for delivering the spatial strategy for North Devon. |
| LDS | Local Development Scheme | Sets out the programme for preparing the LDDs. |
| RPG | Regional Planning Guidance | The current Regional Planning framework, which will be superseded by the new RSS. |
| RSS | Regional Spatial Strategy | To replace the RPG, it sets out the policies in relation to the development and use of land in the region and provides the context for the LDF. |
| SCI | Statement of Community Involvement | Establishes the standards and procedures involved in engaging the community and stakeholders in the preparation of LDDs and in relation to major planning applications - the Statement will be subject to independent examination. |
| SPD | Supplementary Planning Document | These supplement the policies and proposals in DPDs by providing a greater level of detail. They must be subject to rigorous procedures of community involvement but are not subject to independent examination. SPDs do not form part of the statutory development plan. |
