Housing Options service
What we do
The primary aim of the service is to prevent homelessness. North Devon Council's Housing Options service delivers:
- housing register: Devon Home Choice - to provide access to affordable housing throughout Devon
- housing options: to explore options available to prevent homelessness
- homelessness service: to assist when prevention has not been successful
We aim to ensure that advice and information is available to everyone in the North Devon district free of charge.
Improving services
The council prepares strategies, which consider the current and long term housing needs and solutions within the district, taking into account historical trends and performance information, as well as national guidance.

NDC's housing service has been recognised by the Audit Commission as being good with promising prospects for improvement. There has also been external recognition for good practice, such as our approach to helping rough sleepers.
