North Devon Local Plan

The North Devon Local Plan covers the whole of the district outside the Exmoor National Park boundary. The previous North Devon Local Plan was formally adopted in December 2000.

The December 2000 North Devon Local Plan covered the period up to 2001 and was in conformity with the Third Alteration of the Devon County Structure Plan.

On 6 July 2006 North Devon District Council adopted North Devon Local Plan 1995-2011 and it was subsequently formally adopted upon publication of the Notice of Adoption in the London Gazette dated 20 July 2006 (copy below)

The adopted Plan will form part of the development plan for the area of North Devon District.  The development plan forms the basis for decisions on land use planning affecting that area.

The Local Plan has been saved until July 2009 as part of the Local Development Framework for North Devon.

The Local Plan Inquiry (2004)

The programme of formal sessions and informal hearings was completed on 15 October 2004. The Inspector formally closed the Inquiry on 16 December 2004.
