Stand up for North Devon!

The government has requested a review of the system of local government in Devon. Under proposals put forward by Devon County, all the councils in Devon could be merged into one gigantic organisation serving 750,000 people.

Big is not always best!
  • the giant authority would have the biggest population of any council in England, except Birmingham which is one-twenty fifth the area of Devon
  • less than 20 councillors would represent North Devon and Torridge; 80 would represent southern Devon
  • the proposal does not recognise our separate economy and distinct sense of identity
  • the proposal places emphasis on the role of Exeter - where does that leave the towns and villages of northern Devon?
Will change be better for you?
