Deputations
Any meeting of the Council, Committee or the Executive may receive a deputation of up to five persons to listen to their views.
Notice of any deputation must be given in writing to the Chief Executive who will decide which is the most appropriate meeting of Council to receive it.
However, if the subject of the deputation is, in the opinion of the Chief Executive and Monitoring Officer:
1. defamatory, frivolous or offensive in nature
2. a matter for which the Council has no responsibility
3. does not affect the North Devon District Council area
4. is substantially the same as another deputation that has been received within the previous six months.
then he/she may decline to refer it to any meeting.
A deputation, other than one relating to a specific application, must:
1. be in writing giving clear details of the intended subject matter/reasons for deputation;
2. be given to the Chief Executive at least nine clear working days before the date fixed for the meeting;
3. contain a contact name, address and telephone number;
4. not exceed five persons whose full names must be given;
5. not contain subject matter that relates to an application that the Council has the power to determine; and
6. identify the meeting of the Council or Executive to which it is intended to be presented.

Only one member of a deputation shall be allowed to speak to Council, the Committee or the Executive. The presenter of the deputation shall not speak for more than three minutes.
