Government Office for the South West

Government Office for the South West logo - Internet Explorer: This goes to an external website (GOSW) is one of nine GOs in England. GOSW was launched in April 1994 and brought together the regional offices of four existing departments: Environment, Transport, Trade &  Industry and the Employment and Training Directorate of what in July 1995 became the Department for Education & Employment (DfEE).

Cabinet Office has overall responsibility for the Government Offices.

The regional Government Offices now carry out work from the following departments:

1. Transport, Local Government and Regions (DTLR)

2. Employment and Skills (DfES)

3. Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)

4. Home Office (Crime Reduction Initiatives)

5. Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS)

GOSW is organised into six directorates:

1. Enterprise, Intelligence and Young People

2. Local Government and Neighbourhood Renewal

3. Food Farming and Rural Development

4. Devon and Cornwall

5. Corporate Services

6. Crime Reduction
