Your council

North Devon has 419 square miles of some of Britain's finest countryside and coastline including 66 square miles of outstanding natural beauty. Sandy beaches provide some of the best surfing in the UK and have won Blue Flag awards for their clean environment and high water quality. However, our tranquil location produces housing problems, low salaries and a constant need to develop the local economy.

This section provides information about what your council does and how it works.

Our mission

To improve the quality of life for everyone in North Devon.

Our priorities for action:
  • providing good efficient services
  • tackling the housing problem
  • improving the environment
  • promoting the local economy

Our Corporate Business Plan (pdf 1.8Mb) logo - PDF logo sets out more details about our priorities and how we intend to deliver them.

We provide a wide range of services for North Devon residents and visitors, and we are constantly providing more services on line. Our services can be viewed under 'Council services' on the right hand navigation.

Local government review

Delivery of local services in Devon will change from April 2010 as part of a local government review. The Boundary Committee has been asked by central government to make a recommendation for unitary solutions across Devon.

Commitment to equality:

We are committed to achieving equality of opportunity both as an employer of people and as a provider of services.

Our equality and diversity section sets out how we strive to achieve this.
