Flowers and planting within the cemetery

Our burial and interment of ashes page gives advice on placing flowers following a funeral.

As well as paying respects for the recent burial of a loved one, we understand the following special events throughout the year where families and friends like to place flowers, a wreath or floral tribute to mark an anniversary:
  • birthdays
  • wedding anniversaries
  • Mother's and Father's day
  • Easter
  • Remembrance Sunday
  • Christmas
Our current policy is once flowers, floral tributes or wreaths die or become unsightly they are removed by our cemetery staff. Live holly wreaths for Christmas are normally retained on site until February, depending on the weather.

Planting within the cemetery

We would ask you to note that we retain the ownership of each grave plot and ask you not to plant any flowers, shrubs or trees on the grave plot surface as this can hinder the regular maintenance of the cemetery.

The memorials page gives advice on dedicating a tree or shrub.
