Burials and interment of ashes

Funerals can take place through your chosen funeral director or through us direct.

For burial and interment of ashes fees please refer to our published charges. We have also put together information about funeral directors and monumental masons who undertake work within our cemetery.

Please note a minimum of 48 hours notice (excluding weekends) must be given in writing using the applicable forms.  Funeral directors included on our contact list have all our applicable forms but please contact the burial officer should you require forms to arrange a burial yourself.

Unless other funerals have been booked for the same day/time as you require, we will do our utmost to provide the funeral when requested.

Burials and interment of ashes can take place Monday to Friday (excluding bank and public holidays) as follows.

Following the funeral and the funeral party leaving the graveside, the grave will be levelled and turfed over.

Flowers, floral tributes and wreaths may then be placed on the actual grave. Please allow 4 hours following burials, and 30 minutes following the interment of ashes before returning however to enable time for the grave to be made presentable.

Please be patient if it takes a little longer due to the time of year and ground conditions.

We reserve the right to remove flowers, floral tributes and wreaths after a reasonable time or once they are past their life span.

Please note, some disturbance to floral tributes may be necessary if further burials or interment of ashes occur in adjacent grave spaces. Following re-opening of graves and reserved graves, spoil may be deposited on existing graves. In these instances we do strive to take care to protect memorials to avoid any damage. We appreciate the distress this temporary measure may cause, but we do remove and reinstate as soon as possible.

Cemetery staff will replace any floral tributes that are displaced from the original grave where possible. Where displaced tributes cannot be readily identified they will be collected and removed by the cemetery staff.
