Bereavement



Losing a loved one can be very difficult. On top of the bereavement, there are lots of administrative procedures that have to be completed.

Advice is available from a number of sources. We have provided links to some useful sites below helping to deal with bereavement.

North Devon Council offers the following burial and cremation service.

Cemeteries



North Devon Council's Parks and Amenities team has the overall responsibility for the management of cemeteries and burial grounds.

Parks and Amenities directly manages the Marlborough Road Cemetery in Ilfracombe. Barnstaple Town Council external website manages the Bear Street Cemetery in Barnstaple under a local agency agreement.

Parks and Amenities are also responsible for the grounds maintenance, works to boundary trees/walls and overall memorial safety in the two closed parish church yards at St Peter's Parish Church, Barnstaple and Tawstock Parish Church, Tawstock.

NDC's Environmental Health and Housing Services team is responsible for the Burial of the Poor

The Crematorium is a joint service provided by North Devon Council and Torridge District Council.
