Community Councillor Grants

The North Devon Council’s grants scheme aims to offer support to organisations and projects that are of direct benefit to the people, the environment and the community of the North Devon District.

Grants may be awarded to projects or services which benefit a smaller area or a specific community. Each District Councillor had £1500 (2007/08) and have £2000 (2008/09) for projects within their electoral ward.

Councillor Ley (Bishops Nympton Ward)

The following grants for 2007/2008:
  • Bishops Nympton Parish Council - £1000.00 towards the cost of purchasing bark chipping’s for the play area
  • Community Information Centre, South Molton - £100.00 towards annual running costs
  • South Molton Volunteer Bureau £75.00 towards the annual running costs
Grants budget carried forward from 2007/2008 to 2008/09 = £325.00

Grants in 2008/2009
New budget for 2008/09 = £2325.00
Awarded the following grants:
  • West Anstey Parish Meeting - £314 towards the cost of restoring the village pump site, repairing stone walls and installing a hardwood seat.
  • Bishops Nympton Parish Council - £337 towards the cost of coach hire
  • South Molton & District Volunteer Bureau - £100 towards annual running costs.
  • East Anstey Community Centre - £574 towards the cost of renovating the kitchen
  • Bishops Nympton Parish Hall - £1000 towards the cost of a new boiler.
Amount remaining in budget for 2008/09 = £0.00

Grants in 2009/2010

New budget for 2009/2010 - £1500
Awarded the following grants:
  • Bishops Nympton Community Shop - £350 towards the cost of a till.
  • Bishops Nympton Pre-School - £230 toward the cost of a lockable children's bookcase
  • East Anstey Community Centre - £420 toward the cost of improving the access to the Community Centre to the benefit of disabled members of the Community
  • Bishops Nympton Cricket Club - £275 toward the purchase of a mower
