The Economic Development Service

The service aims to develop, implement, integrate and monitor the Council’s role in the development of a healthy economy for North Devon.

Specific Services:

1. Business advice and assistance to businesses, other council departments and other bodies

2. Co-ordinating, developing and/or supporting funding bids for capital and revenue funding from European and other sources.

3. Lobbying and partnership work with local, County and Regional based organisations.

4. Handling inward investment enquiries.

5. Developing and managing specific projects in accordance with the North-West Devon Economic Partnership Strategy.

6. Strategy development and key sector support

7. Assist with integrating business advice and support with the other main business support agencies

8. Recommending rate relief to starter and small businesses.

We provide this support either directly or more usually in partnership with a number of key agencies which we assist with core funding. These include:

1. The North Devon Marketing Bureau – support for tourism

2. South West Forest - provide land management advice

3. The Northern Devon & Exmoor Regeneration Company – to assist with drawing down funding to support a range of economic regeneration activity

4. The North Devon Coast and Countryside Service – co-ordinating support for land based businesses and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty

5. The North West Devon Economic Partnership – for co-ordinating economic development activity

6. North Devon Chamber of Commerce and Industry
